I’m Ellen Jones, and I’m seeking selection as your Welsh Labour candidate for Clwyd in the Senedd Elections in May 2026.
Clwyd is my home. It’s where I grew up, where I live, and where I’m raising my family.
I’ve spent my life standing up for what’s right and speaking out for those who need a voice. Principles shaped by my experience as a young carer. They represent my values of localism, fairness and ambition for the people of Wales.
They are my driving force in pursuit of social justice in my work as a third sector campaigner and policy maker, and why I am a passionate Labour Party activist.
Growing up in a small village in Clwyd, I was raised in a single-parent household and cared for my disabled brother, Sam, who has Prader-Willi Syndrome. Under a Labour Government, we didn’t have much, but we felt secure. Fourteen years of Tory austerity changed that, stripping away the support and stability families like mine relied on. It was tough, but it made me a fighter and a passionate advocate.
To me politics is about creating positive change to people's lives. I had to give back to the Party that helped me so much in my early years, so at University I got involved with Labour Students and have been campaigning in every Senedd, Parliamentary and Local Election since, and I have never looked back.
Advocacy is the heart of my career. As President of NUS Wales, I led the successful campaign to embed healthy relationships and sexuality education into the Welsh curriculum tackling members concerns about growing sexual harassment and violence against women on campus head-on. I’ve worked across the third sector and alongside the Welsh political system to push for real change.
Uniting our members across both constituencies, and recruiting more activists in order to create a stronger force to fight for Wales future.
One that looks forward with confidence to Wales’ future, in order to bring about positive change to people who feel that politics has left them behind.
A laser focus on strengthening our public services so that they deliver for our communities.
I support a National Care Service for Wales. In order to lift care workers out of in-work poverty forever, and improve the quality of care, service users receive.
As a working Mum I know the struggles families face with childcare. I want to widen support for parents and carers, and lift every child out of poverty.
Map and deliver a Future Skills Plan, and encourage more investment in sustainable green jobs that reinvest in our communities and reduce bills.
